EMPOWERMENT OF FREE LEGAL AID FOR CONFLICT-RELATED SURVIVORS IN LIBYA

PROJECT AIM

In Libya, there are thousands of arbitrary prisoners who are held in detention under the control of MoJ/MoI and MoD. Most have not been provided with legal advice or legal representation and so end up staying in prison for a long time. Legal aid coalition organization promotes the protection of human rights and becomes a vital tool for providing access to justice and promoting the rule of law. The inefficiency and unreliability of some of those who are operating under the Public Lawyers Department in Libya makes free legal aid crucial to strengthen access to justice and the right of due process.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

provide due process and access to justice for conflict-related survivors with a focus on women and children.
To assist in a smooth and social reintegration of survivors back to society.
To enhance the capacity of the LAC capacity and strengthen the legal aid in Libya
To enhance the legal awareness in the Libyan community
